I fix the tech your business runs on, and build what it's missing.

I'm Alex Girovich, an independent technology consultant in Chicago. A security scare, an office setup held together with tape, software you wish existed for your business: bring it to me.

What I do

All-around tech help for businesses too small for an IT department.

IT and email

The everyday tech your business depends on, set up properly and kept secure.

  • Microsoft 365 and Google Workspace setup
  • Email and domain moves without losing mail
  • Security: MFA, sign-in protection, phishing defense
  • Windows and Mac support, and "it's broken, help"

Custom software

Tools and apps built for how your business works, written with AI so they cost a fraction of a dev shop.

  • Internal tools that replace spreadsheets and paid apps
  • Automations for repetitive admin work
  • Integrations between the systems you already use
  • Documented, so you're never stuck with a black box

AI for your team

AI assistants your staff can use safely, signed in with their work account.

  • Assistants for HR, legal, marketing and IT questions
  • Connected to your mail, calendar and files
  • Per-person and company-wide spend limits
  • Human approval before anything is sent or changed

What I've built

A client platform in daily use, an open-source app, and a game in progress.

AI platform for a 100+ person design firm

My largest project. Staff sign in with their Microsoft 365 account and get one place for AI: a chat assistant that can read mail, calendar and meeting transcripts, department assistants for HR, legal and marketing, and a set of operations tools that replaced paid software.

The operations side is where it earns its keep:

  • IT ticketing with email intake, replacing Zendesk
  • Staff onboarding and offboarding
  • Travel access with per-person sign-in rules
  • Facilities requests, spend reconciliation and budget planning

Built with Claude Code as my engineering partner. Client name withheld.

The harness underneath

Every tool runs on the same foundation I built, so new tools inherit cost control and safety for free.

One agent loop
A single shared tool loop behind every chat and every tool, instead of 25 one-offs.
Model routing
Haiku, Sonnet or Opus picked per request, based on the task and the person's permissions.
Prompt caching
A one-hour cache, with the savings measured on real production traffic.
Metering and caps
Every turn is metered. Daily, weekly and monthly caps per person, plus a company-wide ceiling with alerts.
Preview, then confirm
Any email, file write or account change shows a signed preview and waits for a person to approve it.

A 3D survivors-style action roguelite I'm building in Unity. Not public yet; more when it's ready to show.

How I work

It starts with a short call about what's slowing you down or worrying you, at no charge. If there's work worth doing, I look at your setup and send written findings, ranked by risk and effort, so you decide what's worth paying for.

Then I do the work and document everything I change. After that, I can stay on for ongoing help so problems get caught before your staff notice them, or hand it all back to you, clean.

About

I've worked in IT for about ten years, and I currently run IT for a design firm with offices in the US and Europe. That job covers everything: Microsoft 365, Windows and Mac fleets, security, automation, and now the firm's AI platform.

Girovich is where I bring that same work to other businesses. You deal with me directly, from the first call to the last fix. I write things down, explain trade-offs in plain language, and tell you when something isn't worth paying for.

Tell me what's broken, or what you want to build.

A couple of sentences is plenty: your company's size, what you use today, and what you'd like to change.
